Frequently Asked Questions about Animal Art
Answers to the most important questions about my illustrations and the creative process.
Which animals inspire you the most?
Dogs and birds are often the focus, but foxes, deer, and owls also appear regularly in my work. The unique expressions and natural elegance of these animals offer endless possibilities for expressive portraits and scenes.
Can I commission a custom animal portrait?
Yes, that is possible. You send me a good photo of your animal, discuss the desired style (watercolor, pencil, or digital) and size with me. After an initial sketch, we finalize the details before I begin the elaboration. The entire process usually takes two to three weeks.
What material are the originals made of?
My analog works are usually created on acid-free watercolor paper or fine drawing board. For digital illustrations, I use a high-resolution print on HahnemΓΌhle FineArt paper, which reproduces the colors and linework faithfully.
How do I properly care for an original or a print?
Keep the artwork dry and away from direct sunlight. A frame with UV-protective glass prevents the colors from fading. For cleaning, a soft, dry brush is sufficient to remove dust. Avoid damp cloths or cleaning agents.
Do you also offer workshops or courses?
I currently do not offer regular courses, but upon request, I occasionally organize one-day workshops in my studio in Vienna. There, I demonstrate basic techniques of animal illustration and provide insights into my workflow. Interested parties can contact me via email.
