How TierKunst Came to Be

From the first sketch of a dog's paw to its own platform for animal illustrations – the journey began with a simple question: How much personality is there in a paw print?

More about us
2018

First Sketches in the Studio

Erik Scholz begins pencil studies of dogs and cats in a small apartment in Vienna. The first 50 sheets are still created on packing paper – each sheet shows a different side of the animal.

2020

Exhibition "Paws & Feathers"

The first public exhibition in a former retail space at Emely-Forster-Gasse 8. Over 200 visitors see 35 originals – including the first watercolor of a robin.

2022

Founding of the TierKunst Brand

After two years of online sales via social media, the brand is officially registered. The focus is on limited edition prints and handmade postcards with animal motifs.

2024

Platform for Animal Illustrations

With the support of Prof. Fabian Lettner and Anita Neubauer, the website ericdogart.com is created. The goal is to create a gallery for realistic and abstract animal portraits – without commercial pressure.

Every step is based on real decisions – no AI-generated milestones.

Why TierKunst?

Our platform arises from the conviction that the connection between humans and animals is an inexhaustible source of artistic inspiration. We create a space where this relationship is retold through illustration and design.

  1. Authenticity of Inspiration

Every work begins with a real observation – the gait of a cat, the plumage of a bird, the structure of a paw. We translate these natural moments into art without alienating them.

    Art with a genuine core
  2. Craftsmanship Depth

Whether watercolor, pencil, or digital illustration – we value precise technique and material knowledge. Every line and color serves the expression of the subject, not mere decoration.

    Quality over effect
  3. Dialogue with the Viewer

Our works invite you to pause and discover the silent language of animals. They create an emotional bridge that goes beyond the visual and encourages reflection.

Art That Keeps the Animal in Focus

We are a studio for illustration and creative works, inspired by the diversity of the animal world. Every line, every color, and every composition tells a story – from the wilderness to the canvas. Our goal is to capture the personality and uniqueness of each animal and translate it into expressive images.

1

Observation as a Foundation

We draw what we see – and what we feel.

Every illustration begins with a careful study of the animal: its posture, its movement, its environment. From sketches and notes, images emerge that not only depict but capture the essence of the moment.

2

Craftsmanship and Experimentation

From pencil to digital pen – we use every tool.

Whether watercolor, ink, acrylic, or digital painting: we choose the technique to suit the subject. Each tool has its own language, and we use it deliberately to create textures, light, and mood.

3

Stories That Connect

Our images invite discovery and lingering.

Behind every portrait lies an encounter – with a dog, a bird, a fox. We translate these encounters into visual narratives that touch the viewer and inspire reflection.

4

For People with Open Eyes

Our work is for those who see the extraordinary in the everyday.

Whether for galleries, publications, or private commissions: we create art that not only decorates but conveys an attitude. For nature lovers, collectors, and anyone inspired by the beauty of animals.
